Fall Family Dark in the Park Celebration at White Memorial was So Fun!

Thank you so much to those who helped create a night that was special for the children! During these times of uncertainty, the one thing we can be sure of is that our proverbial village is amazing! A special shout out to Kathy and Frank VanOrmer for all their vision and hard work to make it happen.  Also a big thank your to White Memorial - they trusted us to use the space which they generously donated.  Also thanks to the Litchfield Historical Society, Oliver Wolcott Library, Lindsay Baker and Co., Brynn and Ian Campbell, Jamie Loomis, Lua Schmitz and Sarah Bolton and the Pace Family who made displays!

We pulled the lights out of the the pumpkins and are storing them safely. If you are looking for yours, please let us know so we can return them to you! (Contact Deb Cahill - dmcahill1@gmail.com)

We are already planning another one!  The theme will be Winter Holidays Around the World!  Start thinking about what you and your cohort might want to create.

New Monthly Meetings! The First Tuesday of the Month at 7:00 PM

We want everyone to participate in the Litchfield PTO meetings. It is a great way to feel connected and we need each other.  We create our community together, one connection at a time.  So, join us and talk about PTO, life, and creating a positive culture in our hometown.  Mark the date in your calendar.  A link will be sent closer to the meeting date.

OWL Library Partnership

The PTO and the Oliver Wolcott Library have partnered to help ensure that all students know that learning is fun and reading takes you everywhere!  We are working together with a goal to have all students in grades K to 12 have a library card!

Library cards are free to all Litchfield residents and taxpayers. The Oliver Wolcott Library is a fines-free library, which means we do not charge late fees for any of our items.  Returns can be made at the Oliver Wolcott Library or in the drop box located outside the Bantam Market in Bantam.

Reading is one of most important skills to successful life. Libraries offer the chance for students to read for pleasure and without any pressure.  A library card not only gives you access to the world, it is a great way for kids to learn responsibility by taking care of property that they do not own.

To get a card for your child or teen... mail in the sheet http://www.owlibrary.org/pdfs/ChildYALibraryCardApp.pdf or stop in to the Oliver Wolcott Library.

One of the benefits of being home more is that there might be more time to read and turning away from screens for a while is needed and healthy!

Click on the link below to opt to stay informed.  One service that you might enjoy is the Book Lover's E-List that delivers curated reading lists of various genres and on various topics to your email address. Click the link below to subscribe?

Also, if you would like to start a Litchfield PTO book club (either for children or adults) the library can help.  If you have questions about books, contact Karen Pasternak at kpasternak@owlibrary.org.   For questions about promoting a book discussion group though PTO contact Sanna Lillie (sannalillie@gmail.com) or Deb Cahill (dmcahill1@gmail.com).

It’s important for parents to be aware that it is the responsibility of the parent to monitor and approve what their child/teen has borrowed from the library. Parents always have access to their child/teen’s current selections by asking at the library or by logging into My Account available on the library’s website (www.owlibrary.org).

Thanks,

Friends at OWL Library

Thank YOU for Supporting the PTO

During our September fundraising drive, we collected nearly $3,000. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we will be giving teachers $100 grants to help offset their out of pocket expenditures.  Thank you teachers for your generosity and we are delighted to give you a small token of appreciation.
